Railnet International has been working to inspect 1200km of the Dakar-Bamako Line in Mali and Senegal. Director of Engineering Boetie Zandberg met with several officials along the way.

The discussion focused on the contribution of the United States of America in the recovery of peace, security, reconciliation and social cohesion in Mali. Ambassador Hankins also announced the interest of several American companies to invest in the fields of Agriculture, the transformation of agricultural products, rail transport and the mining industry. Video is set to start just before the section on the development of the new Bamako to Dakar Railway.

Railnet CEO Mr. Donald Kress met with the Minister of Transport and Urban Mobility Ibrahima Abdoul LY, and the US Ambassador to Mali, Mr. Dennis Hankins to sign a contract to start the process of rebuilding the Dakar to Bamako Railway.

Members of Railnet International's Board of Directors met with Mr. Abdoulaye Pona, the President of the Chamber of Mines in Mali as well as a consultant for CIRA in NY, NY to further discuss plans to proceed with the project of rehabilitating the existing meter gauge to standard gauge.

The President of the chamber of mines, Mr. Abdoulaye Pona and Mr. Donald Kress, CEO and Riis Annan, President of Railnet International, made a courtesy visit to the president of the National Assembly. The CEO along with the President of the company Railnet International is doing a 5-day visit in Bamako from 24 February to 1 March 2019.

The delegation had informed the Head of Government of the willingness of Railnet International to invest in Malian railways by rehabilitating the Bamako-Dakar section, and by building three new sections (Bamako-Conakry, Bamako-San Pedro and Bamako Kidal). It is within this framework that Railnet International commissioned CIRA sa to carry out a feasibility study of the project.

The Chief Executive Officer of Railnet International, an American company, Donald B. Kress, who arrived in Ghana ahead of the Market Sounding program, expressed his readiness to bring the American experience in the railway sector to Ghana.
He was optimistic that, Ghana can turn the fortunes of its transportation sector around if much attention is paid to rail network.
He added that, Ghanaians must support the government’s commitment to develop the railway sector because it stands the possibility of providing about 15, 000 direct and indirect jobs to Ghanaians.
